Guyanese-American tenor, Ajit Persaud, is an emerging operatic artist recognized for “his expressive voice and dynamic stage presence.” With the Glimmerglass Festival during Summer 2024, he covered the roles of Little Victor Farrell and Witness 4 in Kevin Puts’s Elizabeth Cree. Mr. Persaud returned to Palm Beach Opera in 2024-2025 as a returning Bailey Apprentice Artist to: sing Benvoglio and cover Tybalt in Romeo et Juliette, cover Alfredo and cover Giuseppe in La Traviata, and study covering Bartolo and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro. Ajit first joined Palm Beach Opera as a Bailey Apprentice Artist in the 2023-2024 season and was featured in the resident artist showcase singing scenes as Ramiro from La Cenerentola and Duca di Mantua from Rigoletto. He also covered the role of Spoletta in Tosca and Andrès/Cochenille/Frantz/Pittichinaccio in Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Palm Beach Opera. Ajit was also an Encouragement award winner in the Florida District of the 2024 Laffont Competition. In the 2022-2023 season Mr. Persaud was the Winner of the Portland district of the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition and was an Encouragement Award recipient at the Seattle Regional level. As a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre Saint Louis in the summer of 2023, Ajit covered Spoletta in Tosca, Elder Gleaton in Susannah, and was featured in a masterclass given by Patricia Racette.
